June
It’s the middle of summer and your garden is taking shape. Remove the seed heads on spring flowers to allow for new growth. It’s time once again to get on top of the weeds, or in no time at all they will flourish.
May
It’s time to deadhead old tulips and daffodils. Make sure to pull dandelions out of your lawn before they go to seed – the young leaves are great in salads.
April
Get down there and pluck out those weeds as soon as they poke up. It will be much easier to get on top of the job now then when they are well-rooted in summer.
February
This is the perfect time to plan your garden for the spring. It’s also the best time to order perennial stock to ensure you get what you want for the spring planting season.
January:
You may not be thinking much about the garden in January, but there are still ways to keep in touch with the outdoors. Keep your bird feeders full - more birds surviving the winter means fewer slugs in the summer months. If you need to clear ice from a path, use sand or sawdust if possible as salt can often damage nearby plants.
December:
Watch the snow settle over your sleeping garden. Place out birdfeeders to welcome new friends. Decorate your front planters with pinecones, twigs and evergreens
November:
As the cooler weather sets in, it’s time to wrap and protect fragile plants. Make sure to get outside and take in the last colours of autumn: the golds, reds and vibrant oranges. Breathe in the crisp fresh air.
October:
It's bulb planting time! After that, some raking and cleaning up the lawn. When you’re done working, have a little hot cider while sitting and enjoying the autumn colour parade.
September:
Summer is heaving its last sigh. After you wave goodbye, lift and divide overcrowded perennials. Spend sunny days in the garden enjoying the last of the warm days.
